Essential oils for Pregnancy and beyond

Essential oils can be very useful during pregnancy and for your infant. It is very important to dilute them with olive oil or coconut oil as many of them can be very potent. The best way to use oils while pregnant is by diffusing them. Not all oils are advisable during pregnancy, make sure they are safe for pregnant women and babies before using them. Using 100% pure therapeutic grade oils will ensure that they are chemical free and non-toxic to your skin. You can also make your own blends to use for specific purposes. Ask me how you can learn more about oil uses.

Clary Sage is known for regulation of hormones and emotions. It can also be used for calming and relaxing. Once you are pregnant you should discontinue use, as Clary Sage can cause premature contractions.

Clary Calm (monthly women's blend) Clary Calm has been reported to have reduced symptoms of PMS as well as menopause while balancing hormones. This is a very good blend for women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome), as it has shown to regulate menstrual periods and minimize the effects of it.  Using this oil may increase the likelihood of getting pregnant.

Lavender has many purposes. It can be used to calm nausea during the morning sickness phase. It can also be used to alleviate nipple soreness. During labor it can be used for relaxation. It has also been used to stop contractions and prevent early labor. I made a blend of lemon, ginger and lavender to use to settle my stomach and make me feel more alive.

Frankincense: Rub on feet nightly to help overall well being. Frankincense is the most useful of all the oils. It helps almost everything.

Balance (grounding blend): Helps to feel grounded, uplifted and balance mood.

Breathe (respiratory blend); Many women get congestion while pregnant. This is due to inflammation in the sinuses. Breathe respiratory blend can help clear your sinuses so you can breathe better.

Helichrysum can be used to prevent excessive hemorrhaging after a vaginal delivery. Apply 1-3 drops on lower back to help prevent hemorrhaging.

On Guard (Protective Blend): cleaning and disinfecting. Prevents colds and flu virus and supports immune system. I used this blend to make sure our house was nice and clean for the day we brought our baby home. You can use a concentrated On Guard cleaning product or you can make your own with a few drops of the oil in warm water. We also put it in the diffuser regularly to make our house smell like fall and keep the flu and cold viruses away. This blend has also been proven to kill MRSA. A must if you have little ones and work in the public.

Past Tense (Tension Blend); I got some pretty intense headaches while I was pregnant and this blend really helped to soothe them away. It comes in a roller ball bottle and I just rolled it on the back of my neck.
